The poor quality of Saint Lucia’s banana exports to the United Kingdom has prompted a warning that company officials there may not renew a contract next year unless there’s an improvement.

Saint Lucia’s Agriculture Minister Alfred Prospere disclosed this on returning from the UK, where he and a local delegation held talks pertaining to the issue.

His comments came in a release from the Ministry of Agriculture.

  1. Export pffft…the quality in our very own supermarkets have been below par since July. So I’m not surprised by this news. You’ll dont take care of you’ll shyt inhouse you’ll wait for outsiders to tell you’ll it stinks. Pa pi show

  2. The Minister doesn’t realize that countries like Iceland are producing higher quality bananas year round by growing them in their geothermally heated greenhouses and exporting large volumes to the UK and EU. Caribbean banana production is now limited to regional supply due to high shipping cost internationally.
