Volleyball matches continued on Friday 24th February 2017 in the male category of the Schools U20 Volleyball Championships with one match at the Vigie Sports Complex; and two games at the Micoud Community Court.

The results were as follows:











Schools’ Volleyball action continues Monday 27th February 2017 with two games in the female category at the Vigie Sports Complex and one game in Micoud. The matchups are as follows:






A century from National Under-19 reserve player Jard Goodman and a near century from National Under-19 wicket keeper Denzel James propels Sir Arthur Lewis Community College to a comfortable 86 run victory over Babonneau Secondary as the Massy United Insurance Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Friday February 24 at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

Sir Arthur batting first in a 45 over a side match made a respectful 331 for 5 in their quota of overs with opening batsman Jard Goodman batting through the inning finishing on a brilliant 121 not out. Goodman’s inning comprised of 14 fours a 1 six. Denzel James fell just 6 runs short of a century, he was dismissed for an attacking 94 which included 12 fours and 4 sixes. Tyler Sookwa too was in the action stroking an even 50 with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

For Babonneau Secondary the wicket takers were, Kendy Arneau with 2 for 43 in 7 overs, Leon Benjamin 2 for 59 in 9 overs and 1 wicket to Keleb Thomas.

In reply Babonneau Secondary was dismissed for 245 in 40.2 overs with national under 15 hopeful, 14 year old Keleb Thomas falling short of a well desired century by just 4 runs. Thomas made an attractive 96 which included 13 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful scores came from Rene Montoute with 47, Leon Benjamin 24 and Joanthan Paul 12.

For Sir Arthur Lewis Community College the wicket takers were, Tyler Sookwa with 3 for 31 in 7 overs, Kevelli Froncois 2 for 28 in 2.2 overs, Keeghan Patrick 2 for 32 in 9 overs, Stuart Calderon 2 for 45 in 9 overs and 1 wicket to Azemyah Celestin.

Result: Sir Arthur Lewis Community College winning over Babonneau Secondary by 86 runs.

Inter-Schools’ Female Football:

On Thursday 2nd March 2017 at the SAB Vigie Playing Field, the curtains will come down on this year’s Inter-Schools’ Female Football Championship.

St. Joseph’s Convent and Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary will “kick-off” for the 3rd Place Champion at 1:00pm; and at 2:00pm will be the much anticipated Finals between Vieux-Fort Comprehensive Secondary and last year’s Champions, Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary.

The general public is invited to view this championship climax of schools’ female football.

Preparation of the National Under-5 Cricket Team 2017:

The Department of Youth & Sports continued with preparation of the National Under-15 Cricket Team with two practice / trial matches held over the weekend at the Gros Islet Playing Field.

On Saturday February 25, the teams were captained by Keygan Arnold (team B) and Jaden Elibox (Team A). Team A batting first made 196 for 9 in their 45 allotted overs with Udell Preville stroking 80 with 11 fours 2 sixes, Sherqwayne Prudent 30 and Davel Edward 21. Bowling for team B, Mc Kale Nelson 3 for 13 in 4 overs, Ryan Goodman 2 for 33 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Keleb Thomas, Amari Venner and Denzel Albert.

In reply team B made 226 for 6 in their 45 overs with Jehan Boodha making 61, Ackeem Auguste 45 and Ephron Charles 25. Bowling for team B, Anselm Gittens 2 for 26 in 5 overs, Tyron Theodore 2 for 29 in 7 overs and one wicket each to Sky Lafeuille and Udell Preville.

On Sunday February 26 the teams were engaged in a 40 over aside match. Team A was led by Keygan Arnold and team B by Jaden Elibox. Team A batting first made 177 for 7 in their allotted overs with Ackeem Auguste 49, Keleb Thomas 20 not out, Ryan Goodman 16 and Zidane Arthur 11. The wicket takers for team B were, Tyron Theodore with 2 for 20, Sky Lafeuille 2 for 24 and 1 wicket each to Jaden Elibox, Anselm

Gittens and Udell Preville. In response team B was dismissed for 136 with Mc Kenny Clarke making 45, Jaden Elibox 27, Daniel Edwin 14 and Davel Edward 12. Bowling for team A, Stephane Theophane 4 for 32, Keygan Arnold 3 for 29, Mc Kale Nelson 2 for 14 and 1 wicket to Ackeem Auguste.

After this weekend of trial matches, the Department of Youth & Sports is expected to name 17 players to continue preparation for the 2017 Windward Islands Under-15 Cricket Tournament.
