A US teenager is back home after over a month in jail in the Cayman Islands for a COVID-19 violation.
US media reports say Skylar Mack, 18, returned to the United States on Friday.
She and her boyfriend, Vanjae Ramgeet, were charged after she broke Cayman Islands quarantine rules to to watch him take part in a water sports competition.
Mack removed a tracking device before attending the event in November.
Both Mack and Ramgeet, 24, were detained and initially ordered to pay a fine and serve 40 hours of community service.
Ramgeet was charged with aiding and abetting.
But after a legal back and forth, the couple was sentenced to two months in prison, ultimately serving 32 days.
ABC News quoted the US teenager as saying that she was excited to be back home.
US media had provided extensive coverage to the case.
