US$5 million for Dennery water project

The project will span 18 months, with the design and construction phase to be implemented by Dec. 2017.

The Government of Saint Lucia through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), has received a USD$5 million grant from the Government of Mexico to undertake a water supply project in Dennery (north).

The Dennery North Water Supply Redevelopment Project will span 18 months. The design and construction phase is scheduled to be implemented by December 2017.

Additional funding totaling USD$1.6 million will be provided by the Government of Saint Lucia.

The United Nations for Project Services (UNOPS), functioning as the project management entity in accordance with the signed agreement with the Government of Saint Lucia, shall manage the implementation of the project, while the Water and Sewerage Company (WASCO) will facilitate the work of the representatives of UNOPS through follow-up, review and monitoring of project activities as articulated in the project roles and responsibilities document signed by the Government of Saint Lucia, WASCO and UNOPS.

The beneficiary of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives, and the Government of Saint Lucia.
