Press Release:- The United Workers Party expresses its profound gratitude to the Government of Saint Lucia in ensuring that the Saint Lucian public has access to the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

We are especially grateful to the governments and people of Barbados and the Commonwealth of Dominica, who last month donated 1000 and 2000 doses respectively of this vital vaccine to our country and to the government and people of the Republic of India, who have donated an additional 25,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The United Workers Party also commends the Government for the donation to our sister island of Grenada of 5000 Vaccines.

This shows the true spirit of the Caribbean community.

This donation which will no doubt help save many Saint Lucian lives; as well as help in the revitalization of our economy; most importantly our jobs.

COVID-19 is no respecter of party affiliation or ideology, and so, these vaccine donations from our friends abroad, could not have come at a more pivotal time in our continued struggle against this common foe.

The Party is also pleased with the safe and organized manner of the continued vaccine roll outs; and praises in particular, the inspired decision to issue these roll outs in Phases.

Phases 1A and 1B will ensure that priority is placed on the treatment of those most exposed and vulnerable to this deadly disease, especially our frontline workers and high-risk groups like the elderly.

While we understand that many have reservations about taking the vaccine, we urge the public to keep up to speed on all such vaccine information posted over the various media and social media platforms as disseminated by the Ministry of Health.

And though the continued battle against the coronavirus has been a team effort; special kudos must be given to Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet, Minister of Health Hon. Mary Isaac and the Chairman of the Command Centre, Tourism Minister Hon. Dominic Fedee.

They have been unwavering in their task; steadying the ship during these torrid times.

A job well done by the government.  Vaccinate: For You. For Yours. For Us.
