Choiseul MP, Bradley Felix, has confirmed reports that United Workers Party (UWP) Chairman, Pinkley Francis, has resigned.
“I got a call from the Chairman, Mr. Pinkley Francis, this morning indicating to me that he had submitted his resignation. He did not want me to hear it from a third source, so he thought the courteous thing to do was to inform me,” Felix told St Lucia Times.
However, the Choiseul MP said he had not received any formal correspondence to that effect, although he expects that Francis would have sent it through the channel of the UWP office.
“I guess in time; I will be provided with an official copy,” Felix stated.
Regarding the resignation’s impact on the UWP, he explained that the party has to’ resettle’ after its election loss.
“Obviously, the loss has been unsettling for the party,” Felix told St Lucia Times.
He noted that a party convention, a date for which officials will formally announce, should address vacancies and other outstanding matters.
The UWP, which was in government, suffered a massive defeat at the polls on July 26, 2021.
Bradley Felix and UWP leader Allen Chastanet (Micoud South) were the only ones who registered victories.
