UWP Marks 3rd Year In Government With Thanksgiving Service

Press Release:– The United Workers Party Government marked the third anniversary of its election into Office on June 6th with a Thanksgiving Service at the Odsan Pentecostal Church on Thursday.

It was an evening of celebration, reflection, hope and for giving thanks. The United Workers Party, led by Prime Minister Honorable Allen Chastanet, has much to celebrate as in the last three years Saint Lucia has been showing signs of growth and a turnaround in unemployment.

There are several projects which have already been achieved and more to commence in 2019 including the long awaited Hewanorra International Airport project, major Water Projects, Road Rehabilitation, the introduction of Health Insurance and the completion of hospital projects.

Hence, it was fitting that the United Workers Party prepare itself for the work ahead in the House of the Lord.

Government Ministers, UWP Executive Members, Party supporters and well-wishers of the United Workers Party packed the church for the inspiring service which featured celebration in song and prayer.

Castries South East MP Honourable Guy Joseph welcomed everyone to his constituency, adding that the “the Government who is called upon to lead the country today is a Government endorsed by God Himself.”

“We pause to acknowledge the goodness of God because on our own we cannot do anything. Everything we do we do through the power and strength of God,” stated the Parliamentary Rep.

The Party is also thankful to Honourable Dr. Gale TC Rigobert who delivered a powerful message of strength: “We gather here as a family on this the third anniversary of our divine call to govern this beautiful nation of ours. It is only fitting that we begin the commemoration of our anniversary at the altar of our Lord to honour thank and praise Him for this noble honour placed upon us. Brothers and Sisters, we have worked diligently to deliver on the mandate endorsed overwhelmingly by tens and thousands of Saint Lucians who voted for us on the 6th of June 2016. It has not been an easy road however we have employed the UWP ethic of hard work, commitment and compassion to ensure that you and all of Saint Lucia can be part of the economic transformation that results in the betterment of life for you, your neighbours, your friends, your family and indeed all of Saint Lucia.”

Pastor John Joseph of the Odsan Pentecostal Church (Temple of Faith) delivered a strong message and advice.

“Let God be your closest advisor,” he said. “You are appointed to this office by God, Divine appointment . . . . Remember that you are elected by the people. Always remember you must serve the people and work for them. You must be anointed by God. By yourself Honourable Ministers you cannot make it you need the power of God to do your duties.”

The Pastor then anointed all the Ministers who came forward to receive the Blessing. Before the mass closed the Ministers came forward to say a prayers for the country of Saint Lucia.

UWP Political Leader and Prime Minister Chastanet delivered a prayer for the Nation, in which thanked God “for helping us come through the storms mischief, untruths and malignancy from those who see otherwise. But Heavenly Father, we pray that love will be our watch word and our guide as me move forward in giving leadership to this beautiful nation that you blessed us with.”

The Prime Minister thanked God for the unity and strength of the United Workers Party and for all the leaders who serve in this wonderful Party.

To mark its three years in office the UWP will also hold a public meeting this Sunday in Soufriere and has published a list of over 140 achievements by the Administration which can be viewed at:

  1. Compassion Gale? That is what you have for us? That is why your government leave our land in the hands of criminals? yes children under 18, reaping havoc in the land! the UWP nor the SLP has no vision for crime, and that is our major problem; The government ministers do know how to formulate prayers, you smart politicians, My God will judge you all hypocrites
