Saint Lucia Fire Service spokeswoman, Stacy Joseph, said the incident occurred about 8.45 pm.

According to Joseph, three ambulances and two rescue tenders from the Vieux Fort fire station, Crash Fire Hall and the Soufriere station responded.

“The responding officers extricated the five occupants of the vehicle,” she explained.

Joseph said the officers used ropes and a basket stretcher to accomplish the task.

She disclosed that members of the public assisted.
