Four children are among eleven Venezuelan nationals who drowned while trying to get to Trinidad and Tobago local reports, quoting the Coast Guard, say.
In a press release, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard said it received information from Venezuelan authorities that eleven bodies had been recovered from the waters close to the Venezuelan coastal town of Guiria.
Nine other persons have still not been accounted for.
According to the Coast Guard, preliminary information revealed that the vessel, My Memory, had 20 passengers when it left Guiria on December 6.
The Coast Guard said the individuals have not been seen or heard from since that day.
It said that its Rescue Coordination Center had dispatched assets to assist Venezuelan authorities in a joint search effort for the remaining passengers.
