A small crew of Dennery fishers landed a Blue Marlin weighing about 600 pounds on Wednesday.
But the Dennery Fishermen’s Cooperative says such a catch is not unusual.
Operations Supervisor, Agnita Thomas, told St Lucia Times that boat captain, Vernon Samuel, and his two-man crew caught the fish after 3.00 pm.
She explained that the location was some sixty miles from the Dennery port.
According to Thomas, the three Dennery fishers were in a small vessel measuring 24’X 6′.

She said they were engaging in ‘long line fishing.’
However, Thomas explained that as a result of the impact of COVID-19 protocols on the hospitality sector to which the Dennery fishers would normally sell their big catch, the price per pound has dropped.
She told St Lucia Times that normally, fishers would sell at around $9 a pound.
But up to Thursday, they were getting $7 per pound, Thomas disclosed.
