The discovery of a suspected ganja plant in a small garden at the Carmen Rene Memorial School at Sans Soucis, Castries, prompted an investigation by education officials and the police Friday.
But according to reliable sources, by the time law enforcement authorities got to the school the plant had mysteriously disappeared.
The presence of the plant was publicised in a video posted on social media Friday.
The video is believed to have been recorded by a visitor to the institution.
“This is a school and this is the school garden,” a voice on the video states.
“I wonder if anyone sees something familiar in the school garden?” The male voice enquires as the recording zooms in on the suspect plant on the primary school property.
“Now this is what I call progress,” the voice says with an apparent trace of sarcasm as the recording concludes.
Officials told St Lucia Times that a determination could not have been made that the plant was in reality a marijuana plant until tests were done.
