Vieux Fort Police Probe Suspected Drowning

Vieux Fort police are investigating the suspected drowning of a 51 year old resident of  West Hall Group, Vieux-Fort.

According to law enforcement officials, the body of Allan Dominique was recovered Wednesday morning.

Police say on Tuesday about 5:00 p.m., they received a report that Dominique had jumped into the Barcaderre River  to retrieve a pan and encountered difficulty.

Eyewitnesses said he went under the water and did not resurface.

Divers tried unsuccessfully to find him and when a search resumed Wednesday, Dominique’s body was retrieved, police say.
