Vieux Fort Resident Hospitalised After Shooting

A Vieux Fort resident, identified as 35 year old Gregg Collymore, was rushed to St Jude Hospital Saturday night after being shot by a known assailant on Clarke Street, Vieux Fort,  reports from the community say.

According to information, Collymore had been involved in a verbal altercation with a woman about 7:45 p.m. at a bar near the Vieux Fort Fisheries Complex and after leaving the area for his home, was  confronted by the woman’s son regarding the earlier altercation.

Shots were fired and Collymore fell to the ground, later being attended to by emergency personnel from the Vieux Fort fire station who responded after an alarm was raised.

The emergency responders transported the victim to St Jude Hospital where he was said to be in serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating the shooting but have not yet arrested the suspect.
