WASCO’s Distribution System ’50 Percent Operational’ Post Elsa

Press Release:– The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) wishes to announce that operations resumed at the John Compton Dam via stand-by power on July 2nd 2021 following the passage of Hurricane Elsa.

However our Vanard pump station is currently not operational. Electricians have been dispatched to investigate and conduct remedial works.

As a result, the supply of water has been restored to about 70% of customers receiving water from the John Compton Dam.

Customers are however asked to note that those at the extreme end of the system and at higher elevations will experience delays in accessing the water supply.

Consumers are advised to pay close attention to following information, which provides details on the status and performance of our systems island-wide.

HILL 20 BABONNEAU

Operations have not commenced at Hill 20 due to damage to LUCELEC’s power lines at Marquis and Talvan intakes. Operations at the plant will resume once the power issues are resolved.

ANSE LA RAYE

The Anse La Raye system is currently off due to fallen trees on power lines in the area. Once power is restored, operations on the system will recommence.

BOIS JOLIE TREATMENT PLANT

The Bois Jolie treatment plant is inoperable due to clogging at the intake. Maintenance works are ongoing and the supply will be restored to customers as soon as the clean-up works are completed.

THOMAZO

Intake maintenance is currently ongoing at the Thomazo intake. We are also experiencing power issues that have affected operations at the plant.

MICOUD

The Micoud system is currently clogged and maintenance works are ongoing in order to restore service to customers.

PATIENCE DESRUISSEAUX BELLE VUE

The intakes in these areas are clogged. As a result, maintenance works have commenced in order to restore the supply to customers as soon as possible.

GRACE TREATMENT PLANT

The Grace Treatment Plant is currently operational and the supply has been restored to customers.

BEAUSEJOUR TREATMENT PLANT VIEUX FORT

Desilting works continue at the Beausejour Intake and the supply of water will be restored as soon as these works are completed.

DELCER SYSTEM

Water is being supplied to the community. However, we are not working at full capacity due to power issues at the plant.

SOUFRIERE

The supply of water has been restored to all communities except Soufriere Town. Crews are currently conducting investigations on the distribution system in order to resolve the issue.

TOUCOUSSON CHOISEUL

The Toucousson system is operational and we are able to supply customers in Choiseul with water

CANARIES

Investigations are currently ongoing at the intake following which, the supply of water will be restored to customers.

Overall our distribution system is 50% operational and we continue to work jointly with LUCELEC to resolve the power issues as soon as possible.
