  1. A people who don’t cherish their history is a people lost and destined to repeat the faults of the past.

To those who deride your ancestral history is to deny your very self, to be self haters and technically ignorant. There is nothing to be ashamed of in Saint Lucia’s history except perhaps some politicians past and present who bring their respective offices into disrepute. In fact, I find Saint Lucia’s history to be very fascinating and enlightening. Here is the reality and the truth. The fact that we are her on this fragile but beautiful Island, is testament to the fact that:

    1) Our ancestors survived the capture and trek across the African Continent.

    2) That our ancestors survived those terrible conditions on the slave ships

    3) That our ancestors survived the perilous journey across the Atlantic

    4) That our ancestors survived the indescribable and inhumane conditions of the machinery of chattel slavery for 400yrs

    And yet…..WE!!!…ARE!!!….STILL!!!….HERE!!!
    Talk about survival and resilience.

So embrace your heritage. No shame in that.

  2. Actually this initiative was started way before this current government for those of you who will make everything political…..What is wrong in embracing one’s culture? Do you prefer the culture of pants hanging way of your behind, listening to set of Hip Hop and pretending that you are American…..not to mention all that lovely gun crime that folks learn about looking at Games created by foreigners…mass shootings in America. The list goes on……..
A people’s indigenous language impacts the way people think, the way they understand life so it is extremely important.
I guess we will still see the naysayers at Jounen Creole with their Afrocentric shirts trying to fit into something they seemingly don’t respect. SMH

    • Kweyol is predominantly French based. The same French of France that enslaved your people. Yea let’s celebrate Massa’s language and religion while we demonise those from our ancestors. What is Jounen Kweyol but chicken and rum? When was the last time you saw anything cultural in there? Is that the culture you wish to celebrate?

      • Jounen Creole has become that because we don’t celebrate our culture…..It seems that you don’t have a problem with the language of the British empire. If you going to knock the French …knock the British too.
India that was colonized by the British never lost culture and language.

  4. Ignorant brain washed people with those comments . If you don’t do that how will the generation know where they came from ? How do you preserve your culture? Your gift to the world .This is a good initiative I am so glad we can at least reach our kids to embrace where we came from , our identity and where can we go with who we are as a people not who the western big boys want us to be . Now you get more kids in st.lucia who yank and never went overseas in their entire short life . Hmmm the YouTube and social media platform of influence of a different culture. We cannot be America or any part of big boys we must embrace us and move forward. Great job pm

  5. As a student in St. Lucia, with no intention of ever leaving the Island for higher education, higher pay, better health care, and to broaden your scope in world affairs, then you have met your goal, stay in St. Lucia, speak patois or creole and make it sound like PjP, let your hair grow like a pillow; accept the fact that by looking this way, your chances of getting a respectable job in nil. There’s a side kick to that – Green Figs, black pudding & Sows./most importantly do not forget to ‘Prais the Lord’.

  6. History? Absolutely. Culture? Definitely. Language? To communicate with who exactly? Martinique? Haiti? Guadeloupe? Like you clowns so devoid of innovation y’all come up with this BS. Pierre you moron, the economy is collapsing under the weight of inflation. Unemployment is at record highs. Your source market for your main income earner is in recession and we will follow suit. Soon people will not be able to feed themselves. Are you so daft? Is that your distraction for the myriad of problems you cannot solve?

  7. ok so question how does Britain know how and who to divide the reparations amongst who were their slaves and if they were to who is it going to and what is going to be done with that money? they would have to have a record of every single slave of every single slave master from donkey years ago. these people not going to pay nothing. this is just a talk to make people feel a little at ease as if something is actually going to happen
