World’s Oldest Parents In Intensive Care After Twins Are Born

One week after twins were born to them, the world’s oldest parents are in intensive care according to multiple media reports.

Indian couple Erramatti Mangayamma, 74, and her husband Raja Rao, 78, successfully delivered two healthy baby girls on September 5th.

They had spent 57 years in a childless marriage, Yahoo News reports.

The pair tried to conceive throughout their marriage until they successfully underwent IVF treatment from Ahalya Hospital last year, the news website said.

The New York Post says the husband collapsed from a heart attack while the nature of the wife’s illness is unknown.

However NDTV of India has quoted doctors as denying the heart attack report.

“”Raja Rao had a lung infection earlier. We had placed them in an ICU category room but they did not need any intensive care. The mother Mangayamma is also active and moving about though she was also in the ICU room,” Dr Uma Shankar told NDTV.

The babies are reported to be doing well with relatives of the aged couple declaring that they will help to care for the newborns.

  1. That’s what happens when u play god. Y’all should have just bought a dog n called it a they both gonna die and leave these two newborns in the world with no parents. Selfish old fools.
