Born in Delcer, Choiseul, on that auspicious day in 1923, Ms. Eugene stands as a living testament to a century of resilience, love, and the enduring spirit of the people of Saint Lucia.<\/p>\n
Virgilius Margaret Eugene is the lone survivor among her siblings and has weathered the passage of time with grace and fortitude.<\/p>\n
Several years ago, she relocated to Castries, where she found solace in the company of her son and daughter in La Clery.<\/p>\n
However, life’s inevitable twists unfolded, and following the passing of her son, Ms. Eugene found herself embraced by the compassionate care of the good sisters at Faux A Chaux, Castries, where she has resided for the past 13 years.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, December 9, Virgilius Margaret Eugene marked her centenary with a heartwarming mass in her honor.<\/p>\n
Overflowing with gratitude for the gift of a living century, Ms. Eugene expressed her profound thanks to the sisters at Faux A Chaux for their unwavering love and care.<\/p>\n
“I am grateful for every day and for the love that surrounds me. The sisters have been my family, and I count my blessings each day,” Ms. Eugene shared, her eyes reflecting a lifetime of memories and experiences.<\/p>\n
During the celebratory mass, representatives of the Ministry of Equity, honored to be in attendance, paid tribute to the centenarian on behalf of the people and government of Saint Lucia.<\/p>\n
In recognition of her extraordinary journey, a bouquet and a plaque were presented to Ms. Eugene, symbolizing a nation’s collective respect and admiration.<\/p>\n
