{"id":163004,"date":"2024-04-20T06:29:53","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T10:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stluciatimes.com\/?p=163004"},"modified":"2024-04-19T08:42:21","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T12:42:21","slug":"rss-unity-exercise-24-ends-on-a-successful-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stluciatimes.com\/163004\/2024\/04\/rss-unity-exercise-24-ends-on-a-successful-note\/","title":{"rendered":"RSS Unity Exercise &#8217;24 Ends On A Successful Note"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"\" dir=\"auto\">\n<div id=\":r1r:\" class=\"x1iorvi4 x1pi30zi x1l90r2v x1swvt13\" data-ad-comet-preview=\"message\" data-ad-preview=\"message\">\n<div class=\"x78zum5 xdt5ytf xz62fqu x16ldp7u\">\n<div class=\"xu06os2 x1ok221b\">\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Inaugural Ceremony of Unity Exercise 24 commenced on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Castries Comprehensive School.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Present at the ceremony were Commissioner of Police Crusita Descartes-Pelius, Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Beltran (Staff Officer of Exercises of the Regional Security System), Deputy Commissioner of Police Wayne Charlery, and gazetted officers of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Delegates from the Regional Security System (RSS) and the Canadian Armed Forces were also in attendance.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Saint Lucia hosted over two hundred law enforcement officials and soldiers from the eight member states, namely: Saint Lucia (Host Nation), The Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Grenada, and Dominica.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The exercises comprised a wide range of land and maritime simulations, including active shooter drills, gang fight responses, Hostage Scenarios on sea and land, narcotics interdictions, riot drills, maritime pursuits, and security and organization of VIP motorcades.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">These activities were all carried out safely and successfully under the guidance of the (RSS) Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The participants were also treated to a Cultural Night, where attendees had the opportunity to experience some of Saint Lucia\u2019s local traditions and cultural festivities.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The evening featured well received performances by renowned local talents.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">On Friday, April 12, 2024, Unity Exercise 2024 (UNEX\u201924) culminated in a closing ceremony and military parade held at the Sab Playing Field, Vigie, Castries. In attendance at this ceremony were the Acting Governor-General of Saint Lucia, His Excellency Cyril Errol Charles, Senior Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development, and Urban Renewal Hon.
