The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA), has announced the inaugural call of Zuiderdam to Port Castries on Sunday, December 30, 2018.
According to SLASPA, Zuiderdam is the first of the Holland America Line Vista-class ships.
The Authority disclosed that the 936 ft vessel has a capacity of 1964 guests and is fitted with modern amenities and a ‘spectacular art and antique collection’.
Director of Seaports at SLASPA, Mr Adrian Hillaire was quoted as saying that welcoming vessels like Zuiderdam to Port Castries is significant to Saint Lucia’s economy.
“As the destination continues to make strides within the tourism industry, SLASPA celebrates such through various developments like that of the Pointe Seraphine berth extension,” Hillaire observed.
A SLASPA news release stated that to commemorate Zuiderdam’s inaugural call, a welcome ceremony has been planned onboard the vessel.
Tourism Minister, Dominic Fedee; SLASPA’s Customer Experience Executive, Marva Greenige; Port Officer at Cox and Company Limited, Bryan Mathurin; Senior Marketing Manager at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Jackie Mathurin and Maritime Officer at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Genelle Hippolyte are down to attend the ceremony, it was revealed.
In addition to Zuiderdam, in 2018, SLASPA also welcomed inaugural calls of MSC Preziosa, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Escape.
