Convicted Rapist Elwin Lansiquot Recaptured At Praslin

A  joint operation involving Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) Officers and the police resulted in the recapture of convicted rapist Elwin Lansiquot Monday at about 10:35 pm.

The joint party found him hiding in some bushes at Praslin.

According to reports, Lansiquot offered no resistance.

“No shots were fired, there were no injuries,” a well-informed source told St. Lucia Times.

BCF officers and the police had cordoned off a vast area in a massive hunt for the escaped convict.

The fifty-five-year-old Lansiquot, alias ‘La Por Ta’ or ‘Big Dude’, escaped on Sunday while working on the BCF farm.

Prison authorities noticed his absence at about 8:30 am.

But there has yet to be any official information regarding what security measures were on the farm.

Lansiquot was serving a 20-year sentence for two counts of rape, kidnapping and false imprisonment arising from a September 2006 incident in Canaries.

Home Affairs Minister Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte has called for a full investigation into his escape.
