Chastanet Says Hilaire, Emmanuel Hiding Behind Statements

Opposition leader Allen Chastanet has accused Investment Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire and the CEO of the Citizenship By Investment Unit, Mc Claude Emmanuel, of hiding behind prepared statements amid the controversy over alleged misconduct in Saint Lucia’s Citizenship By Investment Programme (CIP).

On Tuesday, Chastanet made a strong call for action at an opposition United Workers Party (UWP) news conference, demanding the immediate dismissal of both men.

The UWP leader’s remarks came one day after Mc Claude Emmanuel’s statement denying sharing information that implicated Dr. Hilaire in any alleged CIP scam.

However, Chastanet raised several questions regarding Emmanuel’s statement.

In addition, the UWP leader declared that the Citizenship By Investment Unit CEO did not have the courage to hold a press conference, allowing the local media to question him and bring clarity to his written statement.

Chastanet also questioned why Dr. Hilaire promised a statement for Wednesday.

“A situation like this calls for him to have a press conference with his board and with the CEO in which they can answer questions, rather than hide behind statements and then to use propaganda,” the former Prime Minister told reporters.

Chastanet declared it clear that Emmanuel’s statement this week was intended to protect the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) and Investment Minister Hilaire.

MSR Media and Philippe Martinez  named Emmanuel in a civil lawsuit filed in the United States against former and present government officials in St Kitts and Nevis and CIP actors who operated in St Kitts and Nevis, presently constructing a hotel in Saint Lucia.

Martinez said he had added Dr. Ernest Hilaire as a co-defendant.

But Emmanuel has defended the Saint Lucia CIP’s integrity and vowed to defend the Citizenship By Investment Unit and his name.

  1. Live in Peace ❗
Get a holy and true bible which contains the true Words of living God of heaven and earth, and open it,as much as we open our mouths !!!!!!!

  2. Well well well never a dull moment – who ever this Mr. Martinez is, St. Lucia needs to know what’s going on in their Country; its not the first time Dr. Hyde’s been caught up in some controversy. Good thing the Case was filed in the USA hopefully the Lawyers will be neutral.

  3. Allen is asking the same questions any thinking man would. This issue of a billion US dollars missing but government has the nerve to continue borrowing is theft if true.

  4. Has he been scooped up yet by the F.B.I. on fraud and money laundering charges? Wherever he goes, financial whodunnit follows.

  5. Of course they stand by it, nice little earner. Its nothing but an elaborate con. Selling pointless ‘Citizenship’ to foreigners for hundreds of thousands of US dollars, for what? A useless St Lucian passport, a ‘Government Approved’ (backhander) house that you can’t sell for 5 years. Same old racism towards foreigners living here. Where is all that money going? Its not fixing roads or schools or helping local people, whose pocket is it going in? ANY FOREIGNERS READING THIS – AVOID AT ALL COSTS DO NOT COME TO THIS ISLAND. If this message gets through to just one person, my work here is done. STAY AWAY – YOU ARE NOT WELCOME (ONLY YOUR MONEY IS)

  6. Why did the courts dismiss Martinez’ supponea case against St Kitts officials? Mate sound like a con, someone who was happy when things were nice (150k usd per month + a hotel by the st Kitts govt) but the moment he saw he was losing, he wants to bring down entire nations! Hilaire I hope you have a solid counter case against mate so lucians can turn their attention to more important issues on ground like the killing of Castries by your government and Frederick!

  7. Chastenet has adopted the Trumpian playbook. To become leader, burn it all down. Trump’s rhetoric is “I don’t care about you, I just want your vote”.

  8. Any thing He liar is involved in is ******* and we must demand answers from these ***** politicians. We never got the answers on the Jufaly deal, rover gate will never be made clear. The question i have is, can pip and the ag throw this case out of court.
