Belle Vue Mourns Fatal Shooting Of Uncle, Nephew

The community of Belle Vue in Vieux Fort was in mourning Monday following a double homicide that claimed the lives of 39-year-old Angus Jeffery and his nephew, Ernest William, alias ‘E.R’.

Both men sustained gunshot injuries at La Ressource, Dennery, on Saturday when the vehicle in which they were traveling came under fire.

Twenty-two-year-old Ernest William died the same day, while thirty-nine-year-old Angus Jeffery succumbed on Sunday at the OKEU Hospital.

A relative of both men told St. Lucia Times that Belle Vue was in shock, never expecting such an occurrence.

The relative declared that both deceased were not troublemakers and expressed that the fatal shooting must have been a case of mistaken identity.

The close family member said the younger of the two deceased, who lives with his mother in Martinique, had arrived in Saint Lucia about two weeks ago on vacation.

According to the family member, the youngster had accompanied his uncle on a routine trip to sell drinks to various local outlets when tragedy struck.

“The place is quiet. Everybody is asking, ‘Why?'” the relative told the St. Lucia Times.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has requested anyone with information regarding the latest deadly gun violence to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 456-3754 or the Richfond Police Station at 456-3690.

The Crime Hotline (555) and the RSLPF Crime Hotline App are also available for anonymous reporting.
