Child Perishes In Praslin Fire

A three-year-old perished in a house fire at Praslin on Wednesday.

The Micoud Fire Station responded with an ambulance and a fire truck after receiving a distress call at about 12:47 pm and found the wooden structure fully engulfed.

Fire Chief Ditney Downes said as the firefighters went into action, they learned that a child was missing.

After extinguishing the fire, a search for the missing three-year-old ensued.

“Due to the extent of the rubble, it took the fire department about an hour and a half to locate the child’s remains,” the Fire Chief told St. Lucia Times.

The police and the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) are investigating the incident.

  1. @me chau ah

I think you are out of order when you do not even know what has happened. So mind the business that pays you and instead provide your condolences. This is a devastating situation that has occurred.

Have some decorum and sympathy! I pray to God you never have to experience the pain the family are going through.

  2. So sad.
One thing we always know what should have been done when we not in the situation.
    Prayers for the family.

  3. Always some sad news here on the Island. Not a day goes if the OKEU is not busy with Patients of accidents, chopping , gunshot wound you name it. If its not a road fatality, its a gunshot fatality, if not that its a suicide or a child drown or burnt alive. Can we just have a month without no loss of life or no blood shed for once. No robberies, or fighting . I know this world not perfect but to me the devil is getting alot of souls here. For we are no longer our brothers keeper and the love the neighbor thing or family thing is gone to the drains.

  4. We the commenters.
We always find fault with our brothers and sisters.
    We’re so DAMMMMME HIPPOCRITE.
WE ARE NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM THOSE WE BLAME.
I believe we need to have LOVE and Understanding.

  5. If we were to make the young mothers sterile, who will work to pay our pension……think about that!

  6. It’s horrifying to read about a 3 year old perishing in a fire. I cannot imagine what the parents and family are going through.

    God gives His people peace;

When sorrow fills us to brim

    And courage grows dim

He lays to rest our restlessness in Him.

  7. That is so sad to much sorrows on this island, may his little soul rest in perfect peace that’s horrible

  8. Without reading or looking at the article, let us give our attention in prayers, this mother needs prayer, God will never leave her in this situation !
    A mother’s request :
You are within my thoughts and prayers, your only relief in times like this GOD ❗

  9. On another news site, I read that the child was at home with his sibling and other family members while the mother was at work. According to the report, the adult family member left the child for a few minutes to go somewhere nearby. Within those few minutes, the entire house was engulfed in flames. My question is: Where were the other family members? Did they also go with him? Why was no one left at home to supervise this child? Second question: Why didn’t they tell the firefighters upon arrival that a child was left asleep in the house? Why did they claim that AFTER the fire was put out they realized that the child was missing. THEN they searched the nearby bushes for the child with no success ONLY to realize that the child may have been left in the house and then make the grim discovery of his charred remains? I am not trying to be mean. Just trying to make this make sense.

  10. The worst thing for a mother is to lose a child. Whatever the circumstances. You will never get over it. Ever. This I know. God’s will? Yeah, sure, the work of a cruel, vengeful God. Not one to be praised and celebrated.

  11. We quick to say what we don’t know @ Me Chou Ah, the right think to do was offer your condolences. An infant lost their life, stop being bitter and causing rumors. Condolences to the family on their lost. Prayers go up🙏🏾🙏🏾

  12. LORD, you have been our (dwelling place through generations)
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world from everlasting to everlasting ❗
Let this be for (future generations), that a people not yet created may praise you ❗
Those who rail against you,use your name as a curse upon them..
    Your words say :
They will eat ashes for as food and mingle their drinks with tears..
In the begining you laid the foundation of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hand..
They will perish, but you remain;they will wear out like a garment, like clothing you will change them and they will be (discarded)..
But you remain the same, and your years will never end…
The children of your (servants will live in your présence; their descendants will established before you ‼️

  13. The Family Network of the Institution of Fire Engineers – Caribbean And South America (IFE CASA) extends heartfelt sorrow to this tragedy. We will continue to put measures in place to mitigate such occurences in the future.
