GoFundMe Launched For Family Of Toddler Who Died In Fire

A relative of the toddler who perished in the tragic August 7, 2024, fire in Praslin has launched a GoFundMe account to raise funds for the family.

Sharmaine Wells-Clarke, who opened the account, wrote of the ‘unimaginable tragedy’ resulting in the death of her 3-year-old grandnephew, Zhaiyan Peter.

Wells recalled that her niece, Donally Peter, was at work when the fire broke out.

Sharmaine disclosed that Zhaiyan’s two brothers survived the blaze.

However, the family lost everything.

“Their home, their belongings, and most heartbreakingly, their beloved child and brother,” Sharmaine lamented.

“We are raising funds to support Donally and her surviving children as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. The funds will help cover funeral expenses, temporary housing, and the basic necessities they need to start rebuilding their lives,” the relative stated on the GoFundMe page.

She explained that public support, whether through a donation or sharing the campaign, would mean so much for the family during ‘ this incredibly difficult time.’

The GoFundMe target is $US 7000.

  1. Why doesn’t the mother open her GoFundMe account? How can I be certain that the money will go to her? Mommy I hope you are asking these relatives questions about how this happened to your child. Relatives do not always have the best interest of your children at heart. My father had to put his hands on one many years ago. He left me in their care and when he came back I was all bruised and sore from a supposed fall. Not the best reaction, but it shows that relatives are not always ‘checking’ for your children when you leave them in their care.

  2. No one can create a Go-fundme in Saint Lucia. Usa, Canada, UK etc. One must hold valid identification & bank Cards for the above countries. The aunt is trustworthy and let’s support the family. You can do your research

  3. If one cannot create a GoFundMe in St. Lucia, I would rather the mother give me her bank account number and I will make the deposit there. People do business like this all the time in St. Lucia. Thank you.

  4. Mommy please post your account number. I would like to help. Your child died through the negligence of relatives and now relatives have GoFund Me asking for money. We have not heard from you. Where are you in all of this?
