“I feel empty,” says Tanisha John, the sister of 17-year-old Alva Cole.
Alva sustained fatal gunshot injuries around 9:15 pm Sunday while at a small shop in Fond Assau, Babonneau.
Though the details surrounding the incident are still sketchy, it has renewed public concern over the loss of young males to deadly gun violence.
The deceased’s sister said she was at a loss for words as a result of the latest homicide.
Tanisha explained that she and her younger sibling were very close.
“He always used to be there playing games with my sons, but he’s not going to be there anymore,” the mother of two young boys lamented.
According to Tanisha, the cold-blooded murder of her brother at just 17 years old leaves her to question today’s morals and worry about the future of her own sons.
“Look I have two sons growing up, I don’t even know what to expect,” Tanisha stated.
She recalled that she and Alva were in the Fond Assau area to attend a football game together, and he had just returned from buying them drinks when he left again, never to return.
The sister disclosed that a phone call from another brother alerted her to a shooting, prompting her to go in search of Alva.
” So while I was passing, I saw some girls watching the picture, I told them let me see the picture. So from time I see the black shirt with the polka dots – because he and my son was wearing the same shirt – I say “Wah, my brother that there,” and I run to the scene. When I got there I say ‘Where my brother?’ and I see my brother dead on the ground,” she said, her voice breaking under the weight of her emotions.
Tanisha explained that her heartache deepened because her sons had been asking all morning for their uncle, who is no more.
Saint Lucia has so far recorded 53 homicides in 2024.
Sad…so sorry to hear young boys are dying to gun violence. Why does he show a gun sign in this same pic on a previous article though?
its about time these online newscasters get better pic of these boys…i am sure there is at least one decent pic rather than chain and hand sign they can get…on another platform there was a pic not showing any big chain or hand sign
In as much as this is a sad situation, there is no need to hide the fact that these young boys are involved in gangs, carry guns or whatever. The gun sign definitely makes people aware that they are not as innocent as we think.
These are the chains people die for in st lucia and at seventeen he has one.
Nobody would want to die, but everybody wants to go to heaven !!
O LORD, you know, I can’t feel safe at home in this world anymore..
If heaven is not my home, then LORD what will I do 😭😭🔥🔥🔥
Isaiah is saying :
St Lucia ‘s watchman
“Watchman, what is left of the night???
Watchman, what is left of the night ?
The watchman replies ;
The morning is coming, but the also the night..
If you would ask, then ;then ask and come back yet again”..
In the evening sudden terror !
Before the morning, they are gone ❗
This is the nation of those who who loot us, the lot of those who plunder us, but the word of God stands forever ❗‼️
The LORD has spoken !!!!
“I will stir up St Lucians 🇱🇨 against St Lucians _
brother against brother,neighbor against neighbor,
A friend will deceive a friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom,
THEN ST LUCIANS WILL LOOSE HOPE ‼️
masiay in as much as we see things one way..lets see it another….automatic is the thing when it comes to hand signs and pictures..it could have been the brother or sister’s chain….im not condoning violence…but to see these young people life taken at 17, then we ask ourselves, what next???
Having one of these chains does not mean you’re gang member these kids are just followers monkey see monkey do and that’s a problem in st lucia,
You people are delusional!
Most of you St. Lucians are sick – quick with the phone for pics and videos to circulate horrible photos of deceased/gun violence/chopping individuals long before the police arrive. Have a heart and think of the family of the individuals before you disgusting individuals start sharing videos all over the universe. Some of you need to get an education along with a heart of compassion and concern for others – malvatayes 100 percent.
