Police have confirmed that an officer discharged his weapon Saturday night to disperse an agitated crowd during a fete in Gros Islet, after members of the crowd converged on other law enforcement enforcers.

The police said they had separated a fight at the activity earlier, but some individuals returned to engage in a bigger fracas.

However, it is reported that crowd members decided to turn their attention to the officers.

As a result, when an officer discharged his weapon, and the crowd dispersed.

A social media video showed an officer surrounded by a vocal crowd.

  1. Lawlessness is rife. There is little deterrence so individuals feel emboldened to act in aggressive ways. I am actually watching the slow decline of the place. Pierre (security guru extraordinaire), is simply marking time, as we head towards a major incident. When it happens, he will be jolted into action. Trust me on that one. It’s coming and anyone paying attention knows it. There is no urgency to halt the rot now. All energies are focused on Chas and protecting the victory. The day of reckoning is coming.

  2. “SIMON SAYS”

“NOW SIMON ASK” Does Saint Lucia have a RIOT SQUAD “?

Do they have RIOT GEAR and are they trained to used it effectively?

Will it the same Policemen and SSU Unit used in the event of a RIOT?

” SIMON SAYS ” – Too many times it has been witnessed where crowds have become unruly and only the presence of local Police and SSU can be seen. It was seen in Anse La Raye, Faux – a Chaux, and Chaussee Road etc..

“SIMON SAYS” – It’s just a matter time before something drastic happens.

  3. @ “This guy ought to be fired” for doing his job. You hard headed fools know exactly what you all are doing are illegal, but you all do it anyway. If it takes the sound of the gun to get your attention, so be it. As a reminder, it is unlawful to deliberately obstruct an officer when carrying his/her official duties and can be arrested and charged. The police need to operate in larger numbers and arrest those who disobey orders . Lessons must be learnt. Too much public disobedience and arrogance!

  4. @Anonymous so “this guy ought to be fired” for doing his job? Criminals and their enablers never cease to amaze me.

  5. This incident is proof that the public’s respect for the law is nonexistent. These idiots should have been arrested for obstructing the police in their duties. That behaviour is the kind of ridiculousness that exists in our society and it reflects the decline we have achieved. The regular gun violence, the regular car accidents, the regular macheté attacks, the regular motor cycle accidents, the regular stabbings, the uninsured drivers, unlicensed drivers, all points to a society that’s rife with lawlessness. I want the authorities to come out and condemn the public’s behaviour. Pierre should come out to make a statement… WHY? Because a fire arm was discharged in public ( the officer had all the right to do so to protect himself) but its an incident provoked by the few pillocks who escalated the situation. Pierre should give a press release to remind people that obstructing the police in executing their is an offence. What has society become? And the leadership is just sitting on his throne doing and saying jack nothing about this….

  6. Despite my urge to not comment anymore, I just had to.

It is very clear that individuals do not respect the law as before. They are now not just verbally assaulting the officers any, but moving to physical assault.

The lawless State of Saint Lucia, seems to be on the increase daily. We, as a people, love the slavery mentality. Unless someone is whipping us, we will not react or learn. A little teargas can go a long way since these hooligans don’t seem to understand.

Mr/Ms Officer, please be mindful that whatever goes up must come down. Ensure your weapon(s) are pointing in a safe direction when conducting such actions.

  7. Ought to be fired for not pointing it at the hooligans! But more seriously, the badmind dem have no fear to commit crime….as if they have a civil right to commit all types of crime knowing that they have the support of magistrates, lawyers and Mary Francis. I do hope that this video is evidence to pursue, arrest, charge and sentence all those that were there just like jan 6 white house! If bordelais is crowded I will personally donate a few empty 20 ft freight containers to house them!! I blame pjp (not for crime cause there is always crime) but for not putting pressure on the judicial arm of government.

  8. It is from one end to the earth to another, but st St Lucia is bless…

  9. Put one down for assaulting an officer because he felt that his life was in peril and everybody up in arms.

  10. This can only happen in St. Lucia…most of your citizens are disrespectful and have absolute no respect for the law or law enforcement You all certainly CAN NOT do this any place outside of St. Lucia ..trust me.
I saw a video a few years back where they were grabbing a police officer’s shirt ..LUNATICS 💯

  11. @C-Wiz fool just wacky as ever….. Pierre should make a statement…WHY ?? A firearm was discharged……I bet he and that other fool Oh Really are cousins.

  12. Blessed are those whose ways are blameless ;they do nothing wrong, neither put their trust in Pierre for Security or depend on his legs for strength and put their confidence in him to depend on his arms for help ❗

  13. We have to ask the criminals to use non lethal weapons too, walk with riot gears too , . Lucians you all crying you all have alot more crying to do.

  14. @ Jay
You are perfectly right about they can only do that crap in St. Lucia. Just try to bum rush a police officer in any state and see what is going to happen to your sorry behind. Even the sheriff’s office personnel will nail you. For quite a few years now, our force was has been rendered toothless. Two people reported this country to the waterboarding people for human rights violations. Kinds of incidents that take place all the time in Western countries. They are living examples of emancipation without liberation. Officers are not willing to go out of their way anymore. Many of them are eyeing the clock to get out of work or retirement. The force is cowering under the constant blows. When we see the police not being assertive, there is a history behind the situation.
