Police have charged a thirty-five-year-old Vanard, Anse La Raye resident, with attempted murder after Monday’s stabbing incident on Jeremie Street, Castries.
A police release identified the accused as Anthony Edward.
According to the police, on Monday at about 7:30 am, the Castries Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received and responded to a report of a stabbing that occurred on Jeremie Street in Castries.
CID investigators proceeded to the Castries City Police, where they conducted inquiries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation ensued between two males, resulting in both sustaining injuries and requiring medical treatment.
A police release said both individuals received care at the Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEU).
The release also said that as the investigation progressed, one of the individuals, Anthony Edward, was arrested in connection with the incident.
On Tuesday, September 11, 2024, CID investigators formally charged Anthony Edward with the attempted murder of the other man involved.
Officers escorted him to the First District Court, where he submitted a bail application.
Following this, he was remanded in custody pending further case proceedings.

The (RSLPF) release emphasized the vital role by the Castries City Police & commended their diligent efforts……do any of us need to be told? damn it, what else are they being paid for?
If the individual who committed this violent act was under the influence – this is what is happening in St. Lucia.
Most of these folk on Jeremie Street are alcoholics and therefore they exhibit alcoholic behavior – which is sad. I do not and never will condone violence against others – but the fact is no one is sober in these carbaways – and those who sell to them will do anything for money – like selling to someone who is already drunk and disorderly.
Could you imagine someone drinking from dawn to dust? Their families should be looking to find solutions to assist them – like rehab etc. But then again, I don’t know if St. Lucia has these facilities/resources – bondais praying.
The leadership in St. Lucia continues to amaze me – I am thankful that I left at a very young age. Godspeed
