Coach Bellas Seeking Public Support

One of the island’s leading football coaches and administrators is presently fighting for his life at St Jude’s Hospital.

Emmanuel Bellas, president of the Vieux Fort South Football League and coaching coordinator with the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) is appealing to the public for blood.

Recognised by the SLFA for multiple title wins with Vieux Fort South in recent years, Bellas has also worked with national youth teams and women’s teams, in addition to receiving certification as a FIFA coach instructor.

A longtime former physical education teacher at Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, Bellas was recently diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome, a rapid-onset muscle weakness caused by the immune system damaging the peripheral nervous system.

His present serious health challenge requires blood donations, and his family and friends have been soliciting assistance.

Blood donations can be made at St Jude’s in Vieux Fort or the Owen King EU Hospital in Castries.

For more information, people who wish to help can contact 717-1175 or 718-1035.
