Dennery Faces La Clery In Tier 1 Eliminator Showdown!

One team will bid farewell to its title chances on October 20, in the Tier 1 Eliminator match of the Saint Lucia Semi Professional Football League (SPFL), where Dennery will face La Clery. The match will be the first of a doubleheader at the Dennery Playing Field.

The men from the east will need the support of their “twelfth man” in the home crowd, as they face a tough test from their Castries-based opponents.

This encounter will be a classic case of an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Dennery, third in the regular season, conceded the fewest goals in the league, allowing just three throughout their campaign.

On the other hand, La Clery boasted the most goals scored, 23, with three of their players ranking among the top 10 goal scorers. The competitiveness of this fixture was seen by the 1-1 draw between them during the league phase.

Bruno Leonce, President of the La Clery Football League, expressed elation at his team’s performance during the league phase. He commended their resilience, despite the challenges faced throughout the season.

“The team was able to come together at the right time at the most important time to be able to secure a spot in the playoffs and that is the most important thing,” he said. “I’m very proud because we started on a low but now we’re here in the playoffs getting ready to win this championship.”

Romel Polius, President of the Dennery League, indicated that he is confident of his team’s prospects in the playoffs.

“I have total confidence in our squad. We have a good mix of youth and experienced players who are talented, passionate, and focused, led by two experienced and knowledgeable coaches,” he asserted. “I believe that whenever our players stick to the plan and showcase their football prowess as the Boys From The East, then I like our chances against any team.”

The prevailing team in this locking of heads will face the loser of Qualifier One, featuring Gros Islet and Central Castries.
