The opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has urged Saint Lucians to demonstrate their displeasure with the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) administration by displaying the colour orange.
“I am appealing to all Saint Lucians – fly an orange flag. Fly an orange ribbon. Tie it on your house. Tie it by your flowers. Anything orange, place it on your vehicle,” the UWP’s first deputy political leader, Guy Joseph, stated.
The former Economic Development Minister told an opposition press briefing on Tuesday that the UWP was not asking people to join the party.
“We are asking you to say to the government: ‘We are not pleased with what you are doing. You waived the 2.5 percent for an office building? You waived VAT for the National Trust? And the rest of us in Saint Lucia, we have to pay the 2.5 and we have to pay VAT in these hard times and we are paying $16.50 for a gallon of fuel when a barrel of fuel is only sixty-seven dollars?” Joseph stated.
He said it was time for Saint Lucians to make their voices heard.
“If you are afraid of being victimised by them if you speak out, fly an orange flag for your country,” the UWP deputy political leader declared.
He asserted that Saint Lucia was facing multiple crises.
“The United Workers Party, when elected into office as soon as the next election is called, will have to fix health care, reduce the cost of living, reduce the crime surge in this country. This is our focus,” Joseph explained.
He said the UWP would formulate a Saint Lucia rescue mission.

You that Guy . You forgot you gave Sandals $25 000,000 tax break .
This sounds like a desperate act by a politician discarded by the electorate, unable to mobilise supporters to take to street .
I thought the UWP colour was yellow
Everyone fly a red flag 🚩 including you Guy
@Anonymous (the one after Gregor). I am with you on that one.
Have you ever watched a boxing match where the champion is getting mauled? He wants to return to the ring after the break but his corner is having none of it. They wrap their arms around his torso. There are words like, “it’s over champ” “you are having an off-day champ” “you drank too much water.”
My words of wisdom to Guy, “it’s over champ.” Someone has to hold his gloves and look him straight in the eye and tell him that he is done. VAT exemption for an organization with the mission of protecting our patrimony, does not form a reason to hoist an orange rag. In fact, Guy has failed to comprehend the wave of nationalism flowing through the island. He is completely out of step. Out of touch. Chastanet’s personal feud with the Trust is an ongoing theater which many St. Lucians are fully aware. It’s our local Kabuki theater. Raising an orange rag to limit the Trust will always be a non-starter.
I think this champ (Guy), has absorbed too many head punches. This might be the right time for him to get a CTA scan. Maybe he has flat out lost his marbles.
Guy my cousin, I am telling you, there is no way I John Cepal will support you and this present UWP. Because of you our health system is in a mess, Allen called our cousin A non entity, you never ask him to apologize. You promised to do a wall by Happy Hour you never did it where is that money? Cousin Guy sorry for you
Why is Guy so desperate ? Just wait the five years and if they are as bad as you think they are the public will do what needs to be done right ?
Beat your breast !
Who is God to you ???
How can you serve God and mormom at the same time ???
Stop using the name of God for political benifits and open wide a bible with the true words of the living God as much as you open your mouth..
Hear :
The LORD our God, the LORD is One..
Love the LORD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength..
These commandements that I give you today are to be upon your heart (s) …
Impress them on your children..
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road ; when you lie down and when you get up :
Tie them as symbols on your forehead..
Write them on the doorpost doorframes of your houses and on your gates…
