Saint Lucia police have cited unidentified ‘complications’ as the investigation into the recent fatal daylight shooting at Derek Walcott Square in Castries continues.
A medical practitioner pronounced Jahiem Papius of Baboneau dead following the shooting, which left another man in critical condition.
“This investigation is a very complicated one because of what has happened in terms of social media. So, I want to be very careful about making comments about this Derek Walcott Square homicide. I want to assure the public that at the appropriate time we will make releases regarding that matter,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Luke Defreitas told reporters on Monday.
“As complicated as that matter is, I do not want to say anything that would prejudice the investigation,” he explained.
Asked whether the issue related to social media postings of videos and images of alleged suspects, Defreitas reiterated his position.
“Again, I say there are complications, and I do not want to go into details. I would rather keep it at that,” the senior police officer told reporters.
Last week, Defreitas announced that investigators were pursuing leads since the fatal shooting.
At the time, he said he hoped the leads would soon bring the investigators closer to making arrests.
“We will spare no effort or resource to ensure that the perpetrators are expeditiously brought to justice. Such lawlessness cannot and will not be tolerated,” Defreitas warned.

Not very convincing, postings on social media help in forensics in many countries except Saint Lucia, it seems. In Miami recently, a mother came forward to identify her son as a perpetrator in a violent crime incident after seeing it on social media! No wonder crime is so rampant here, every effort is made to protect the persons responsible for crime as much as possible. Just last week a so called ‘human rights lawyer’ was asking for more of the state’s resources to provide legal representation for persons accused.
Unidentified ‘complications’, what did I tell you, incompetent, impotent, useless police force. They are already looking for a way out from their responsibilities. The prime minister just wasted over 100 million dollars on a dead horse, no review, nothing to see what needs to be improved or changed.
The laws and statue the governs the Judicial systems of the United States are not like that of St.Lucia so therefore what applies to them does not apply to us.

Everywhere else, picture of criminals are posted for the public to see except here in SLU. Those responsible, who are afraid to do so, need to grow some balls ASAP. They always find excuses not to do so, even after convictions. The exposure of criminals is definitely a form of deterrence. Criminals should not be better protected than the law abiding citizens whom they are terrorizing !

Countryman( the jamaican youtuber) making the fellas case “complicated” because he posting all what fellas in lucia tell him and lots of people believe it. So now people asking why dat so clear as day and police not following what mate saying.
Countryman, (the youtuber), is posting endless videos online, convincing people that he has inside information as to who is behind all the crimes that take place on island. Many believe his posts to be gospel and are now questioning the Polices’ blindness to these posts. The police feel that they should not take hints from a foreign youtuber and so there are “complications” in every direction. He will not stop with his posts as he is being fed the info through locals. Police feel as though he is beating them to solving cases but unclear as to how he gets his info.
Countryman (the youtuber) needs to post all Jamaican shoplifters across the USA whose resume is SHOPLIFTER EXPERT – if he does this he will have JAMAICAN videos to last for a lifetime – Jamaica has enough BIG trouble of it’s own…..stay in your lane.
It was sometimes about nearly two or more,I read on guyana journal whatever,I read that with the help of St Lucia’s Florensic file that the four murderers were identifiant all four was engaged..
