Saint Lucia’s Air Born Academy (ABA) continues to make its mark in the global entertainment industry, this time through its contribution to the critically acclaimed film, The Black Sea.
ABA’s expert audio team mixed and mastered the standout track, By Design, featuring BL’eve Brown and produced by Marc Giveand (Marc Live), for the film’s evocative soundtrack, highlighting the company’s growing influence in professional audio production for international cinema.
The Black Sea, directed by Crystal Moselle (The Wolfpack) and Derrick B. Harden, is a comedy-drama that premiered at SXSW in March 2024 to rave reviews.
The film follows Khalid, a Brooklyn dreamer stranded in a small Black Sea town after a financial mishap. Khalid’s resilience and charisma as the only Black man in the community lead to an unexpected bond with a local woman, Ina. Together, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and shared aspirations, creating a narrative that is both poignant and humorous.
ABA’s involvement in the film adds another layer of emotional resonance, with the expertly mixed By Design track serving as a highlight of the movie’s soundtrack.
Cory Carson, CEO of ABA, expressed pride in the Academy’s role in the project stating, “I’m proud to share our work on The Black Sea soundtrack. This collaboration highlights Saint Lucia’s growing role in global entertainment and reflects our dedication to delivering world-class audio. We’re honoured to have contributed to this milestone project and grateful to the film’s creators for their trust.”
“Through our commitment to innovation and artistic excellence, ABA will continue to place Saint Lucia on the map as a hub for world-class audio production. With projects spanning fashion, music, film, and live performance, the Academy is shaping the future of entertainment one milestone at a time,” Carson added.
ABA’s contribution to The Black Sea is the latest in a series of high-profile projects that demonstrate its technical and artistic excellence, including Vogue World Paris 2024, a Ghostface Killah collaboration, Sacramento Kings Golden One Centre, Jazz Night in America featuring Gregory Porter, Machel Montano’s GOAT album, and the Best of The Mighty Arrow compilation.
