The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) kicked off 2025 with a successful operation that took a significant quantity of drugs, a firearm, and ammunition off the streets, two weeks after seizing a large amount of cannabis in a separate operation.
On New Year’s Day, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Gros Islet executed a search warrant at a property in Cas En Bas, after receiving a report of an assault.
The raid uncovered a 9mm pistol, 22 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one 5.56mm round, and 289 packages of cocaine.
Two men who were present during the search were taken into custody. Police have confirmed that charges are forthcoming.
Weeks earlier, on December 16, 2024, police officers from the Drug Unit, in collaboration with the Customs and Excise Department, discovered 66 pounds of suspected cannabis during a routine inspection at the Vigie Cargo Shed in Castries.
One male suspect was detained in connection with the discovery but later released pending further investigation.

22 rounds of ammunition. Each round can end a life. One life sentence for each round of ammunition. Gun crime disappears.
I concur; let’s be serious.
