Timiqua Deterville Proud To Represent Saint Lucia At Miss OECS Pageant

Born and raised in Dernière Rivière, 24-year-old Timiqua Bursharn Deterville will represent Saint Lucia at the January 31, 2025, Miss OECS Queen Pageant in Dominica.

The event will occur under the theme “Elysian Elegance and Empowerment.”

According to the organisers, the upcoming Miss OECS event celebrates Caribbean womanhood by showcasing the qualities of intelligence, beauty, charm, grace, and talent, all of which are abundant in Caribbean women.

“This event offers numerous benefits, including boosting the confidence of the contestants while also giving them a platform to represent themselves and promote their respective countries,” a Pageant release stated.

In addition to Ms. Deterville, the other contestants are Shania Samuel from Antigua, Dominica’s Kyanna Dyer, Montserrat’s Mauricia Barzey, and  Lisha Beache of St. Vincent.

The young ladies will participate in six segments: A video featuring a promotional speech about their country, creative national wear and another promotional speech, a question and answer session, performing talent, swimwear, and evening wear.

Timiqua’s pageant accomplishments include winning the Miss Mabouya Valley title in 2018, becoming the first runner-up in the Miss Independence pageant in 2019, and the first runner-up in the 2019 National Carnival Queen contest.

The support team of the former Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Academy Sportswoman of the Year has urged the public and sponsors to back her bid to bring the Miss OECS Pageant title home, following in the footsteps of the reigning Miss OECS, Claire Marissa Smartt of Saint Lucia who captured the crown last year.

“Timiqua Deterville is proud to represent Saint Lucia at the Miss OECS Pageant, carrying with her the hopes, spirit, and pride of her country,” her brief biography says.
