“He did not deserve this”: Wife of Latest Homicide Victim Devastated by Brutal Killing

A tragic case of fraternal violence has left a family in mourning after Augustus Forde, also known as Leroy, was brutally killed by a relative in Montego Bay, Aux Lyon, Dennery.

Initial reports indicate that the 66-year-old mechanic was attacked at approximately 3 p.m. while working on a machine. His wife, Lily Forde, who witnessed the horrifying incident, recalled the moment she saw the suspect approaching with a firearm.

Despite her warnings to her husband she said, the attack unfolded swiftly. He attempted to flee but did not make it far. He was shot and collapsed into a drain near his home, where his attacker struck him multiple times in the head with a cutlass.

Forde was pronounced dead at the scene.

Through tears, the grieving wife spoke of the years of tension between the two, largely rooted in ongoing disputes over property and possessions.

“It’s jealousy,” she said. “He always wanted my husband to sell his boat to him, but my husband tell him he cannot sell his boat. He threatened my husband so many times, saying if he didn’t sell it, he would kill him. And yesterday, he finally did.”

According to the widow, Forde had reported these threats to multiple police stations, including Richfond, Dennery, Castries, and headquarters. Despite these warnings, tragedy still struck.

“I want justice. I want the police to find him,” she pleaded.

Reports suggest that after committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene, allegedly armed with a gun and cutlass. He was last seen heading toward Louvette.

Family members and the wider community remain in shock, struggling to comprehend this gruesome act.

Melissa Eristhee, Forde’s stepdaughter, described him as a caring and devoted man who always looked after his loved ones.

“Even when I moved out, he would always check on me and my daughter. He didn’t deserve this,” she told St Lucia Times.

A neighbour and family friend condemned the violence, calling for peace. “Even if you have problems, you are [relatives]. Just leave it alone. There’s no reason why one [relative] should kill another.”

Lily’s final words were a desperate plea for accountability: “He was a loving person. He was kind. He didn’t deserve to die like this. I want justice.”

Police investigations are continuing into the tenth homicide for 2025.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Richfond Police Station at 456-3690. Anonymous tips can also be provided through the Crime Hotline, 555, or the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force crime app.

  1. Question – how much more information do you need about the homicide????? – based on what I read in the article – his wife Lily witnessed the murder – she tried to warn her husband who ran but was shot and chopped by the relative whom the wife said had made previous threats which were reported to several police stations on island.

The only information required at this time would be the whereabouts of the COLD BLOODED MURDERER.

  2. awa awa…..awa awa awa…st lucia finish…When you see the Almighty ready for us eh…sorry eh…but……..

  3. Bring back Operation Restore Confidence. Crime has reached an all-time high in St.Lucia. IMPACS want to lecture about extrajudicial killings, well there are extrajudicial killings almost every day. What are we waiting for? For half the populace to be wiped out before we see the light. Come on Mr PM, stop beimg a weakling and do something!

  4. Police asking for anyone with information? Ridiculous…the information is right there is your face. Now get on your behinds and bring the perp to justice.

  5. This Island is cursed, 2 set of brothers kill their own in a week. The devil is alive and taking over. One thing I can say when someone threaten you or say they going to kill you just believe it will happen. Run and hide, dont bother go make police reports. Its a waste of time. Leave the country or do your actions before they take you out. Many persons didnt do actions, many persons didnt run and hide, and they were killed. Its very sad times here

  6. I’m not surprised his pleas went unheard. Such is the nature of dealing with the police force in Saint Lucia. Last Week I recommended that Verne Garde audit police stations around SLU to investigate why police refuse to take reports , police reports are lost (because they were never done), reports not followed up on, “no vehicles” to come to crime scenes. Here is your chance Mr.Garde; start by auditing the police stations on the east coast.
