Police Recover Stolen M16 Rifle

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has recovered the M16 rifle that was stolen from the Gros Islet Police Station armoury earlier this month.

It said in a statement on Thursday morning that the weapon was retrieved “as part of an intensive investigation conducted by one of our specialised units”.

The firearm was reported missing on February 15, triggering a comprehensive inquiry. As a result of the investigation, Sergeant Ricardo Jerson Charlemagne was charged and remanded to prison on a theft charge. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, further details regarding the recovery have not been disclosed.

The police described the recovery as a significant step towards ensuring accountability and maintaining public trust.

“The RSLPF reiterates its commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, and we continue to work diligently to prevent and address any breaches within our ranks,” it added.

The authorities thanked the public for their cooperation and encouraged anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.

“Transparency and justice remain our top priorities,” the RSLPF statement concluded.

  1. This entire story sounds fishy. Where and when was such firearm found? More details need to be disclosed.

  2. @ Anonymous 11:29 am.
It was found in a big bottle, under some rocks, in a cave, where waves enter, by a shortcut, near a bunch of guavas, behind St. Mary’s College. Smh.
