Vanard, 76 Savage to Clash in Tapeball Finale

Losing 2024 finalists Vanard will play 76 Savage on Saturday evening in the final of the third Cepal Holdings Chaz Knockout T20 Tapeball Tournament. The competition comes to a head at 7:30 p.m. at the Balata Playing Field, with a replay of last year’s semifinal.

With players like Xavier Gabriel, Tonius Simon, Lerry Auguste, Alex Antoine, and Daniel Jn Baptiste, Vanard will be hopeful of taking the next step to lift this title. They will also count on the experience of veteran players like Avitus James, Kemrol Charles, and Bradley Giddings.

Gabriel scored an unbeaten 43 from 25 balls in the semifinal against Monchy, as Vanard won by six wickets. Auguste added 36 from 14, as Vanard chased a low score of 84 to win in just 9.5 overs. Monchy were dismissed for 83 in 16.5 overs, as Auguste took 3-23, James 2-17, and Vince Rodgers 2-17.

Meanwhile, 76 Savage will be relying on the likes of Dane Edward, Larry Edward, Tyrel Chicot, Jard Goodman, and  Dexter Solomon.

Chaz T20 finalists 76 Savage.

Former Windward Islands player Larry Edward hit a majestic 54 off 28 runs as 76 Savage rolled past former champions Millet in the semis. Captain Dwight Thomas and Dane Edward had almost identical knocks of 38 as 76 Savage made 192-5. Millet were held to 151 all out from 17 overs, with 3-30 from Larry Edward, and wickets for Dexter Solomon and Dane Edward, as 76 Savage won by 41 runs.

The competition has comprised 14 thrilling matches under lights at Balata. The series is named after former Windward Islands youth cricketer Chanraj ‘Chaz’ Cepal, who would have been 24 last weekend. Chaz died in a horrific car crash in 2019.
