Michael Esnard, leader of Soca The Ultimate Tent, has shared his excitement about the tent’s successful opening and what fans can expect as the carnival season heats up.
Reflecting on the recent launch, Esnard described the atmosphere as electric in an interview with St Lucia Times.
“The feedback was positive from both artists and patrons; a feeling like persons were eagerly anticipating this tent season,” he said. “Fans can expect to see us at different locations across the island.”
The tent continues to be a launchpad for emerging soca talent. “We always have new artists,” Esnard said. “MNR had her first solo performance on our opening night. We also feature Ti Pima out of the Ave Maria School, who won the soca segment of the Ave Clash competition.”
Beyond live tent shows, the team is expanding with themed events across Saint Lucia. “We’re hosting a water fete in La Ressauce, Dennery, and a paint and power fete in Soufriere. Possibly even a brunch after the season,” he revealed.
Esnard emphasised the tent’s role in shaping the carnival season, calling it a momentum builder for both artists and fans. “We’ve seen songs performed on our opening night carry all the way through Carnival and beyond,” he noted.
With the schedule already taking shape, fans should mark their calendars for:
La Ressauce, Dennery – Sunday, June 8
Soufriere – Friday, June 28
