Dennery has been rocked by two separate shootings in just four days, leaving two men dead and two others hospitalised, prompting a swift police response that has already led to multiple arrests and the seizure of a firearm.
The first previously reported incident occurred on Friday, June 27, when 36-year-old Jimmy Charles was fatally shot. Just days later, in the early hours of Tuesday, July 1, another deadly attack claimed the life of 21-year-old Kennedy Leon, alias “Scrappy”, of Grand Ravine, Dennery.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers from the Richfond Police Station responded to reports of gunfire near Grand Ravine around 2:40 a.m., where they found Leon unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at a nearby medical facility.
While processing that scene, police heard additional gunshots nearby and soon received reports of a second shooting at Ti La Resource, Dennery.
There, officers discovered a 23-year-old woman from Ti La Resource and a 23-year-old man from Bexon, Castries, both suffering gunshot wounds. The victims were rushed to the hospital and remain in stable condition.
In a coordinated crackdown, multiple police units, including the Major Crimes Unit, SSU Northern Division and CID Gros Islet, conducted raids across Dennery, arresting four persons of interest and recovering a .22 revolver with ammunition.
One suspect has been detained in connection with the firearm seizure, while investigations into both shootings continue.
