Iyanola Heritage will face Amazonian Warriors in the Dream11 T10 Saint Lucia Blast final on Tuesday after securing a seven-wicket victory over Whiptail Smashers in Monday’s rain-shortened semifinal at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
Opting to bowl first against the strong Smashers lineup, featuring Kimani Melius and Jard Goodman, Heritage made an immediate impact. Aaron Joseph set the tone with a miserly opening spell, conceding just six runs in two overs. Despite a brief flurry of boundaries, including a six from Melius (22), the Smashers struggled to build momentum. Quick dismissals of Goodman and Lee John left them at 44-4 before Shawnil Edward’s brisk 18 off seven balls provided a late boost. However, rain intervened, restricting the Smashers to 66-4 in eight overs, setting Heritage a target of 67.
The chase began shakily as Kensley Paul fell for a golden duck, but Ephron Charles put Heritage back in the ascendancy with 12 runs from the third over, delivered by Jeandell Cyril. Charles was dismissed for 19 runs off 11 balls, but the damage was done. Javier Gabriel, 13 off seven, left the chasing team needing just eight runs from two overs for victory and a berth in the final.
Dominic Auguste, who had opened the innings, smashed a six off the fourth ball of the seventh over to finish things off. He ended with 25 from 17 balls.
The stage is now set for Tuesday’s showdown as Heritage and Warriors battle for the title.
