The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Robotics Association has appointed Vertilia Stanislas-Pascal and Keeghan Patrick as its representatives for Saint Lucia.
The pair joins a regional network committed to advancing innovation, education and technological transformation across the OECS.
Stanislas-Pascal, an educator with 19 years of experience, said she sees the appointment as an opportunity to contribute to national development through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
“It’s both an honour and a humbling experience to be entrusted with this responsibility,” she told St Lucia Times. “I see it not just as a personal milestone but as a platform to elevate robotics education and innovation in Saint Lucia and across the region.”
She added that her passion for robotics and technology is long-standing and rooted in a desire to empower young minds.
“I’m truly looking forward to everyone witnessing the incredible talent and creativity our youth bring to the world of robotics,” she said.
Stanislas-Pascal will work alongside Keeghan Patrick, CEO of Orbtronics, to implement local robotics initiatives, build partnerships with national stakeholders and lead preparations for the inaugural OECS Super Regional Robotics Challenge, set for 2026.
Patrick, who has been involved in the OECS Robotics Association’s development since its early days as the St Kitts Robotics Association, said he is excited about the upcoming regional challenge.
“We’re hoping to have each of the countries’ respective robotics teams come over to this inter-regional competition and participate,” he told St Lucia Times. “And we’re hoping this forms a catalyst for more engineers being interested in building new robot technology, new AI technology, and helps push the needle forward in creating this innovation ecosystem within the Caribbean, [so] that we start being known for creating new technologies instead of just being consumers of technology.”
