Adventists Reaffirm Biblical View on Sexuality Following Court Ruling

The Saint Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists has issued a public statement acknowledging the recent High Court ruling that decriminalised gay sexual relations, while firmly reaffirming its belief in the biblical model of marriage and sexuality.

The church made clear that while it recognises the authority of the state in legal matters, it remains guided by what it calls the “unchanging authority of the Word of God”. Citing Genesis, Romans and other scripture, the statement defines marriage as a lifelong union between one man and one woman and rejects same-sex sexual relations as inconsistent with God’s revealed will.

“We recognise that such decisions fall within the legal framework of the state,” the Mission said, “However, as a people of faith, we remain committed to the unchanging authority of the Word of God in matters of moral and spiritual conduct.”

The statement emphasised the inherent dignity, worth and value of every human being”, calling on followers to extend love and respect to all, regardless of orientation or life choices.

“We are all children of God, broken in different ways and in need of His grace,” the statement reads. “Christ Himself modelled a perfect balance of truth and grace, and we are called to do the same.”

The church urged the nation to return to the principles of God’s Word, arguing that “lasting moral clarity and national well-being are found in alignment with His truth, rather than in departure from it”.

  1. True leave all judgement to god as he said let the man without sin throw the first stone trytry that and see whom among us can throw that first stone

  2. @Anonymous. Yes, allow God to be the judge however, God will certainly judge the sinfulness of man.

  3. The Pastor and the Archbishop are both speaking not only the truth but also re affirming the bigger picture..ie a couple in HIS eyes is a man and woman; the fundamental beings of starting a family through copulation and thus being the backbone of society. This doesn’t mean that you cannot love those who engage in same sex unions (love for all), it means that their activities are against HIS words.

  4. Let people live their lives as they please, it’s no one’s business what consenting adults do in private.

  5. Here is the truth of the matter…..if you believe that whatever you are doing is right in your own eyes ..let your OWN conscience be your guide.
