The Saint Lucian delegation has officially arrived in Barbados for CARIFESTA XV, the Caribbean’s premier arts and culture festival, running from August 22–31. The festival brings together creative talent from across the region in a vibrant celebration of Caribbean identity.
Coordinated by the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), Saint Lucia’s contingent features a dynamic mix of cultural and contemporary artists representing a wide array of disciplines.
Audiences can look forward to performances and exhibitions in folk dance, music, theatre, masquerade, craft, fashion design, poetry, visual arts, drumming, culinary arts and film.
Saint Lucia will have a strong presence at the Youth Village and during the main showcases, highlighting the island’s rich artistic heritage and innovative spirit. The Government of Saint Lucia, through the CDF, has provided vital support to ensure the country’s participation.
CARIFESTA was last held in Trinidad & Tobago in 2019, with Saint Lucia among the participating nations. The festival’s next edition was scheduled for Antigua and Barbuda in 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, Antigua and Barbuda officially withdrew as host, paving the way for Barbados to take up the mantle and prepare for this year’s much-anticipated CARIFESTA XV.
The theme for this year is Caribbean Roots. Global Excellence.
