For many young Saint Lucians, talent has never been in short supply. What’s often missing is the financial push to turn passion into something lasting. On Monday, Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre announced a new initiative aimed at changing that: the Creative Economy Grant Fund. The programme aims to support young Saint Lucians in transforming their talents into sustainable businesses.
Speaking at the weekly Pre-Cabinet Press Briefing, Pierre described the fund as a direct investment in young people across the island. Open to individuals aged 16 and above, as well as groups and micro-enterprises, the initiative will provide financial support to projects in music, film, dance, theatre, craft, design, fashion, and literary arts.
Grants will be awarded in two categories: up to $5,000 for training, marketing or launching new products, and up to $10,000 for production, equipment, and promotion.
With an overall allocation of EC$350,000, the fund will be administered through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries.
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre said the initiative represents a direct investment in Saint Lucia’s creative sector and its people. “If a group of dancers needs uniforms, or a young artist wants to produce a music video, this fund is there to help. Even some sports-related projects may qualify,” he explained.
Officials say the fund is intended to help bridge a long-standing gap for local creatives, many of whom have the ideas and skills but lack the financing to bring projects to life. By offering targeted support, the Fund seeks to empower Saint Lucians to see their artistry not only as cultural expression but as a viable enterprise that contributes to economic growth.
Applications for the grant fund close on October 31, 2025, and must be submitted to stluciacreatives@gmail.com
