Saint Lucia sit joint second in the fifth Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) International Netball Series following Wednesday’s matches in Grenada. Defending champions St Vincent & the Grenadines lead the standings with a flawless 5–0 record, having defeated Barbados 63–53. Saint Lucia are the only other unbeaten team, with four wins from four outings. Grenada also have four victories, but from five games.
On Wednesday, Saint Lucia’s Piton Sparks cruised past Anguilla 70–21, dominating from the outset. They led 17–3 after the first quarter and extended the margin to 36–8 by halftime. A 53–15 advantage at the end of the third period set the stage for their most explosive quarter yet.
Semaj Marguerite starred in the shooting circle at the Tanteen Netball Facility in St George’s, converting 44 of 75 attempts. Jo-Ann Anderson added 12 goals from 24 attempts, while Melika Destang chipped in with 10 from 20.
Saint Lucia now face their toughest test yet: a Thursday evening showdown against St Vincent & the Grenadines, holders of the Gloria Ballantyne Trophy and long-time Windward Islands rivals.
