Octane Auto Expo, U16 Cleanest Bike Contest Ignite Vieux Fort

The Octane Group continues to accelerate its mandate to change the game for alternative sports on the island with the recent hosting of two events. For motorsports enthusiasts, the organisation staged an Auto Expo, showcasing some of Saint Lucia’s fastest and best-engineered vehicles. Additionally, organisers facilitated an Under-16 “Cleanest Bike” competition for the younger generation.

Both events were held on August 17 at the RASCO Car Park in Vieux Fort. The activities also received corporate sponsorship from Automotive Art, Smiley’s Tinting and other partners.

Ryan St Phor, CEO of the Octane Group, spoke to St Lucia Times about the two events. He indicated that the Auto Expo was more than just a traditional showcase. With a prize pool of EC$30,000 and the inclusion of various dynamic elements, he noted that the event provided opportunities for a diverse group of individuals to gain value from the expo.

“Events like Octane Auto Expo ignite passion, showcase local talent and inspire innovation,” St Phor said. “The event strengthens the local automotive ecosystem and gives visibility to homegrown talent, paving the way for new opportunities in auto innovation and entrepreneurship.

“We’ve designed the expo to be an immersive playground, each attraction has its own vibe. Whether you’re into gaming, cars, bikes, off-road, or sound. Octane delivers targeted experiences that speak directly to each tribe.

“Octane is designed as a dynamic concept, a static vehicle display with creative elements that allow us to adapt to a variety of venues and bring the same energy and excitement to the spaces we occupy.”

Speaking about the “Cleanest Bike” competition, St. Phor explained its broader significance:

“Octane’s stage is more than just entertainment. It’s a launchpad for learning and growth. That’s why we actively encourage parents to bring their kids. When young people witness locals building, designing, and innovating right before their eyes, it sparks something powerful. It shows them that the world of motorsports and engineering isn’t out of reach.”

“Through youth-focused initiatives like the Under-16 competition and hands-on activities at the expo, we’re intentionally building a bridge between curiosity and career. We want to help young people discover their passions, sharpen their technical skills, and see themselves as part of this growing industry.”

Organizers hope to breathe new life into the motorsports industry, following the loss of the sport’s traditional home, the “Cacabef” in Vieux Fort, as part of the Hewanorra International Airport Redevelopment Project.
