Northeast Texas Community College freshman striker Kirsheema Ince paced the Lady Eagles to a 4-1 win over Richland College Dallas this week. One of four Saint Lucians on the roster, Ince scored her first career hat-trick to lead the NTCC attack.
In a road game, the 18-year-old former Saint Lucia Sports Academy and Vieux Fort South striker opened the scoring in the first half and added two more goals in the last 10 minutes to put the game firmly in the Eagles’ control.
Against Richland, Ince’s opening goal for NTCC was set up by fellow Saint Lucian team captain Sabrina Avril in the 10th minute of play. Ince netted again in the 80th and 85th minutes. The only other statistical contribution by a Saint Lucian was an unhappy one, as Britney Moncherry was handed a yellow card in the second half. Overall, however, the mood was celebratory.
“This was one of our most complete team wins I have ever been a part of,” said coach Dillon Williams. “Kirsheema was outstanding up front, but the chances were created because of our hard work to win the ball and distribute through the back.
“Sabrina, Elena, and Stephany really set the tone. Defensively, we stayed organised, and Elena came up with big saves when we needed them. It was a total team effort. Everybody fought not only for themselves, but for the team and the group.
“We played as a whole unit and really fought for each other. We have a lot to grow on, a lot to build on, but it’s a good start to the season. I’m looking forward to the rest of the year with this amazing group of girls.”
Remarkably, Ince took just three shots in the game. She played two internationals for Saint Lucia in 2023, against Cuba and Guadeloupe.
