A young man was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon in the community of L’Abbayee, Bexon, sending shockwaves through residents and prompting a full-scale police investigation.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Reo Maximin, a resident of the area.
According to a statement from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department responded to reports of a shooting around 4:40 p.m. on September 18.
On arrival at the scene, police discovered two males with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service were already on site, providing medical assistance.
Both individuals were transported via ambulance to the Owen King European Hospital. Maximin was later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.
The other victim is said to be critically injured.
