WASCO announces 48-Hour emergency shutdown of northern water network

The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) has announced an “emergency shutdown” of the Northern Network scheduled for Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 6:00 a.m. The shutdown is necessary to repair a rupture on the raw water transmission line, with works expected “to be completed within 48 hours”.

During this period, “water pressure and supply to customers from Millet to Cap Estate will be affected”. Even after the works are completed, WASCO cautions that consumers at higher elevations or at the far ends of the distribution line may face “additional delays”. Customers are therefore strongly advised “to collect and conserve water, where possible”.

These disruptions only add to mounting frustrations expressed by customers across social media platforms regarding the services provided by the company, which holds a monopoly on water treatment on the island.

WASCO advises the public to contact its North Control Room for water trucking assistance at 457-3958, 457-3960, 451-9812, or 482-0052.
