The Police Marine Unit (PMU) has recovered several stolen vessel components and continues to investigate multiple maritime incidents across the island. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) detailed these operations in a press release on October 20, 2025.
In collaboration with the Marine Investigation and Intelligence Unit (MIIU), officers recovered several parts linked to a French-owned pirogue reported stolen in Martinique.
Around 11:45 a.m. on October 8, French authorities alerted local police about the theft. Following two days of operations in Monkey Town, Ciceron, officers executed multiple search warrants and discovered vessel components in an abandoned house.
Among the recovered items were two grey fenders, one orange bailer, one black boathook, two boat masts (one black, one grey), and a Yamaha throttle controller. A black Mercury outboard engine was also seized during the operation.
Just over a week later, on October 17, PMU officers responded to reports of a possible stolen French vessel at Marigot Bay. Upon arrival, they found a fiberglass pirogue with no visible registration number or name. The vessel was towed to the PMU base for verification, and investigations are ongoing to confirm its origin.
In a separate operation on October 19, officers from the PMU and MIIU responded to reports of suspected illegal goods landing at the Castries Fisheries Complex. A vessel matching the description provided was secured, and one individual was taken in for questioning. The matter has been referred to the Customs Department for further investigation.
The PMU continues to intensify patrols across the island and urges all mariners to comply with maritime safety, security, and registration regulations.
Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious maritime activity by contacting the PMU at 456-3870.
